Gender at the Centre Initiative
The Gender at the Centre Initiative (GCI) applies a whole-system approach to gender-transformative education, bringing together ministries of education, civil society, technical experts and young feminists. The Initiative, led by the GCI Alliance, partners with African countries to strengthen technical gender capacity, foster political will and support the transformation of harmful gender norms.
GCI is jointly coordinated by UNGEI and IIEP-UNESCO.

SWOT Reports
This report presents an analysis undertaken by UNGEI and Cambridge Education to better understand how Ministries of Education across the 8 GCI countries mainstream gender equality in education sector planning. The study looks at the political economy of education sector planning, zooming in on issues of power and voice, and seeks to answer the following questions: Are education sector planning processes including gender transformative ambitions and intentions? Who within the MoE has the power to push this gender agenda? How are civil society and other gender experts engaged within education planning?
The policy brief presents the main findings of the GCI analysis on gender mainstreaming in education sector planning, and formulates recommendations to strengthen gender-responsive education sector planning.

GES Toolkit
The Gender Equality in Education Snapshot (GES) Toolkit supports education planners and practitioners to conduct a rapid assessment of gender equality in and through education. It provides a quick snapshot of where the country stands with regard to gender equality within and beyond its education system. The tool allows to produce an easily accessible overview of relevant gender data and to catalyze a dialogue among education stakeholders at country level.
