Comparative, International and Development Education Centre (CIDEC)

The mandate of the Comparative, International and Development Education Centre at OISE, University of Toronto is to promote excellence, collaboration, and innovation in comparative and international educational research. Connected to masters and doctoral graduate programs in Comparative, International and Development Education at OISE, University of Toronto, the CIDEC community includes over 50 faculty members, adjunct faculty, and visiting scholars. More than 120 graduate student researchers with an interest in international issues and comparative methodologies in the field of education are affiliated with the Centre.

CIDEC has long sought to use its research and advocacy capacity to support efforts to promote equitable quality education for all. With respect to gender equity in education, we believe that while much progress has been made in promoting and enhancing girls’ education worldwide, there remains much work to be done, particularly in terms of girls’ post-primary access and completion. We therefore share a strong commitment to UNGEI's values and mission including, enhancing girls’ access to and completion of quality education, supporting a multi-pronged and holistic approach to system reform, contributing to high-level and grassroots policy advocacy and resource mobilization efforts, and overall, to use our research, capacity-building and advocacy strengths to help remove barriers to girls’ education at all levels.
