This literature review, commissioned by Wellesley Centers for Research on Women for Development & Training Services, Inc., is a resource for programmers and policy-makers working in the education sector. The review identifies, annotates and synthesizes research studies and interventions addressing primary and secondary school-related gender-based violence. The review covers: evidence of the prevalence of school-related gender-based violence in developing countries; the contributing factors as well as the health and educational consequences of school-related gender-based violence; and reviews programmatic and policy responses with recommendations for future interventions. Annexes include an annotated bibliography, additional references and information on implementing organizations from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
