Education is a basic human right and a catalyst for all other rights. As such, it is pivotal to the success of post-2015 priorities such as poverty eradication, health, environmental sustainability, democratic participation and women’s empowerment. Yet 250 million are not learning the basics, whether in school or not. These children are being left behind through no fault of their own; the majority are girls, children from the poorest families, children with disabilities, and children living in rural areas or conflict-affected countries.
