Regional Seminar on Teacher Policies in Asia-Pacific, 17-19 November 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

On 17-19 November 2010, UNESCO Bangkok together with the Office of Education Council of Thailand (OEC) is organizing a Regional Seminar on Teacher Policies in Asia-Pacific that will be held at Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel, in Bangkok.

“Teachers” is one of UNESCO’s priority areas identified as the building blocks for achieving EFA and the education-related MDGs. UNESCO is actively helping Member States to design and implement effective policies for training and retraining teachers to meet current and future demand.

The objectives of this Regional Seminar are:

To review current trends and issues on teacher policies and teacher education in the region.
To facilitate policy dialogues among different stakeholders such as officials from ministries of education, teacher unions, teacher professional organizations, teacher educators, and teachers.
To encourage teacher policy reforms in the Asia-Pacific region through the exchange of ideas and sharing of lessons learned from different countries.
Around 70 participants from Asia-Pacific countries will participate to the event. Representatives from Ministries of Education, Teacher Education Institutions, Teachers Unions and Universities will join the event and share their views and experience on the current situation of teacher policies in their countries.
