News note: G-8 Ministerial Meeting on Education, Moscow, 1-2 June

12 June 2006 - The G8 Ministers of Education met in Moscow on 1-2 June 2006 to confirm their commitment to cooperation in education at all levels in the 21st century. The meeting’s objectives included assessing the availability of education at all levels, the progress made on the program of lifelong learning, the development of the UN Education for All program, and the expansion of the educational system to integrate immigrants into society. Ministers reaffirmed their countries' commitment to support achieving the Millennium Development Goals of universal primary completion and gender equality at all levels of education, and to helping countries to achieve the goals of the Education for All (EFA) agenda.
