Winning People’s Will for Girl Child Education (2006)
Case study on Girls’ Education in Nepal. Action-research project.
“Win People’s Will” was an action-research project in 2004 and 2005 that concentrated on the access and retention in school of girls from Dalit (or untouchable) castes. Given the social and cultural complexities facing this deprived caste group, UNESCO’s activity focused on gaining “people’s will” for girls’ education. Parents and the community must be fully convinced of the importance of education and be motivated to send their daughters to school.
