Encouraging empathy, sharing science, or raising awareness of rights?

Despite the staggering rates and detrimental impact of corporal punishment in schools, there remains a dearth of evidence on what works to change the harmful attitudes and behaviors that encourage it, particularly in crisis-affected contexts. In this report, the Behavioral Insights Team and International Rescue Committee partner to explore whether applying insights from the behavioral sciences can shed light on this issue through research undertaken in Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania, home to nearly 140,000 refugees from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
