Overview
Enrolment and attendance rates are rising for both girls and boys, with an average annual rate of increase for girls of 1.50 per cent between 1980 and 2001. The good news is that the gender gap has been erased; the bad news is that boys are now at a disadvantage, and over 15 per cent of all children are still out of school.
